On 19- 22 January 2014, the WVA President attended the 75th Diamond Anniversary celebration of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine - University of Khartoum, Sudan.

Following the invitation received from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Khartoum for the celebration of their 75th Diamond Jubilee organised in Khartoum at the Friendship Hall Convention Centre from 19th to 22nd January 2014, I had the honour and the pleasure to represent with my Colleague Johnson Chiang the WVA at this event. This Celebration was placed under the auspices of the President of the Republic of Sudan with the participation of his two Vice Presidents at the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the participation of the ministry of Livestock, fisheries and rangelands and the ministry of agriculture, animal resources and irrigation, high authorities from the parliament international organisations OIE, FAO, AU-IBAR, PANVET, FAVA, AVA, EAVA the University of veterinary medicine of Hannover Foundation, the Deans, Professors and representatives of veterinary faculties of Sudan, Egypt, Uganda, Nigeria, Kenya, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Libya, Tunisia, Malaysia, Colombia, Germany, Ethiopia, Oman, Emirates, Taiwan, UK,Turkey, India, Qatar and USA.The WVA was warmly welcomed for attending the 75th Diamond Jubilee and I addressed the participants by thanking the organizers and congratulating the Government of Sudan and the Staff of the University of Khartoum.We have been invited to visit the veterinary faculty of Khartoum through all the departments and the old and new facilities, discussed with the professors and students and we took the opportunity to promote the WVA activities for 2014 -2015 and particularly the organisation of the Global conference on veterinary education in November 2014 in Singapore, the 2015 Global conference on One Health with the WMA in Spain and the 32nd WVC in Istanbul, September 2015.
We also visited a cattle farm belonging to the ministry of livestock established as a model for farmers and students. During the event celebration, the African Veterinary Association AVA organised a tripartite meeting with the PANVET and FAVA and drafted MoU's between AVAPANVET and AVA-FAVA and also FAVA-PANVET. A ceremony for the signature of the MoUs was held on Wednesday 21st January 2014 during the Gala Dinner offered by the Government of Sudan in the beautiful Open Garden facility of the ministry of livestock, fisheries and rangelands for the signature of the MoUs with the participation of the 2 ministers, the high authorities, the international organisations and all the participants attending this celebration event.The initiative of mutual collaboration between the 3 continental organisations was very much welcomed by all the participants and by the large medias covering this Diamond Jubilee (TV, Radio, Carnaval, Exhibition and newspapers).During the Gala Dinner I presented on behalf of the WVA A nice Gift to the Dean of the veterinary faculty and 2 WVA medals to Prof Hashem Al Hadi and Dr Yasir Alian for serving the WVA Council during the 2008-2011 term.
