The WSAVA Executive Board is joining the fight against zoonotic vector-borne disease through the Canine Vector Borne Disease website (www.cvbd.com) supported by Bayer Healthcare Animal Health division. The upcoming annual web conference on canine vector-borne disease (CVBD) is set to take place on 20 March 2014 and all are invited to join for free by registering online at http://www.cvbdwebconference.com/eng/register.php The CVBD global web conference aims to raise awareness of parasitic diseases such as those transmitted via ticks (Lyme disease), fleas (canine bartonellosis) and sand flies (leishmaniosis). It will feature two sessions: a targeted case study session for veterinarians and a roundtable session for veterinarians,physicians and public health professionals. Broadcasting live from Barcelona,Spain,it will be simultaneously translated into English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, and Russian with social media also playing a key role with a live Twitter feed and supporting conference hashtags.
"With experts presenting from the Centers for Disease Control, the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases and the WSAVA, the 2014 conference is set to surpass the success of past years by engaging a broader audience," comments Dr Norbert Mencke, Director of Global Veterinary Services Companion Animals, Bayer HealthCare Animal Health.
